What You'll Experience

This is bluefin tuna fishing at its finest. You'll leave the dock in the pre-dawn darkness and run to wherever Cullen's network is telling him the fish are — because that's how he operates. He doesn't guess. He typically knows where the tuna are.

Once on the grounds, you'll experience the kind of fishing that makes grown adults speechless. Bluefin tuna in the 50-200 pound range are among the most powerful fish in the ocean. Whether you're watching one detonate on a topwater lure, feeling the rod load up on a vertical jig, or holding on as a fish makes a blistering first run, there is nothing in Northeast saltwater fishing that compares.

And when it's over, you go home with some of the finest eating fish on the planet.

The Captain Cullen Advantage

Captain Cullen Lundholm runs one of the most respected tuna operations on Cape Cod. His extensive network of fellow captains, fishing contacts, and spotter pilots gives him a real-time picture of where fish are being caught — and he uses every bit of that intelligence to put his anglers on fish. His preferred techniques of casting and vertical jigging are among the most exciting and challenging ways to target bluefin, but he won't hesitate to switch to trolling or live bait if that's what the fish demand on the day.

The Boat — 33' Conch Center Console

Frequently Asked Questions

Is this trip suitable for beginners? Absolutely. Captain Cullen is an excellent teacher and will make sure every angler on the boat has the best possible chance of hooking up regardless of experience level. That said, tuna fishing is physically demanding — be prepared for an active, exciting day on the water.

What happens if the weather is bad? Safety comes first. If conditions aren't suitable for fishing, Captain Cullen will do his best to reschedule to another available date. If rescheduling isn't possible, you'll receive a full refund.

Where exactly do we depart from? Cullen goes where the fish are, so the departure location depends on weather and where the bite is best. Trips may depart from Falmouth, South Yarmouth, Dennis, Orleans or Marshfield.

What time do we leave? Sunrise or just before — the exact departure time will be confirmed with you the evening before the trip.

Can I bring my own gear? Captain Cullen provides everything you need. If you have tuna-specific tackle you're comfortable with and want to bring, feel free.

What about seasickness? If you're prone to seasickness, take Dramamine or use Sea-Bands BEFORE departure. Don't wait until you're on the water.

How do we handle meals? Pack food and snacks for a full day on the water. There is no galley on a center console — keep it simple with sandwiches, snacks, and plenty of water.

What are the chances of actually catching fish? Tuna fishing is never guaranteed — that's fishing. But Captain Cullen's network and expertise give you the best possible odds. When the fish are around, he finds them.
